Entry #2 ~ Life of College Athlete

Being a college student is very stressful for a person, now image being in a sport in the college you are at. Although it is an amazing thing to represent the college you are at, it's also very stressful for that athlete. The college athlete has to be passing their classes to be eligible to be part of the team, has to be performing at a high level every practice to earn their playing time, and some athlete might need to pay for their school or scholarship without any help which means they will need a part time job at least.

College athlete need to be enroll full time in school with classes that can be very difficult. Almost all the classes it is up to the students to keep track of their own assignments and when they need to be turned in. This makes them stress about their classes and grades, so they can have passing grades to play. With four to five classes a day and a ton of work, it can be time consuming. It is not just school that is time consuming it is also practices, games, and work. A student athlete should be getting eight to nine hours of sleep and eating healthy, but that is not the case for most college athlete. Most have to stay up late nights to study for exams and eating once or twice a day due to lack of time. Even if you are part of the team, athlete are not grantee any playing time. The athlete have to earn their playing time with being discipline and giving maximum effort at every practice. Seeing how much athlete need to do with just school and their sport is a lot. With that, some athlete have jobs to pay scholarships or bills. As a college student athlete, it is very difficult for me to find some time for friends, family, and even myself. Most nights I stay up until one or two in the morning finishing up assignments. Then wake up very early for school the next day.

  2. Now I don’t play any sports but I totally understand where you’re coming from. I may not play and sports but I try to attend the gym five to six times a week and with school and work on top of that it’s stressful enough for me. I hardly see my family and friends because I’m always so busy with work and school. And if not at work and or at school I’m in the gym getting my workout in. But even then, in my free time I’m doing school work and studying. I get it, it can all be exhausting if you don’t time manage and balance your priorities. But I’m sure it’s all worth it if you’re reaching towards your goals. -Athena M.
